Monday 20th April Home v Holyte Won 3.5-1.5
On a bright, sunny but breezy day at Hunston the Martlets Blye team played their first match of the season. Terry was there to see them all off and all 5 players were giving shots. Home advantage prevailed and Chichester won 3.5 to 1.5. An excellent start. The next match is on Thursday 23rd against Worthing at Home.
Thursday 23rd April Home Worthing won 4.5 -0.5
Another beautiful sunny day for the second Martlets Blue match at home against Worthing. A different line up but Terry had every faith in them. The team were all waved off with ‘enjoy yourselves’ and good luck.
The team played their socks off and came in with a victorious 4.5 - .5 win. It was Christine’s first ever match at this level and she won her game. Well done to all.
Friday 1st May Home v Dale Hill Lost 2-3
Another lovely day for Martlets Blue to play another home match. This time against Dale Hill. They were a very strong team and were victorious against us 2-3. We have another chance next week against Ifield.
Thursday 7th May Home Ifield Won 4-1
Our last home match on Thursday 7th May against Ifield. Reduced matches as Ifield could not field a full team. The weather was fine and sunny again. Chichester came through and won 4-1. A well-played match. Away matches start on 15th May away at Holtye.
Friday 15th May Away Holtye Lost 3-2
Martlets Blue travelled to Holtye GC on 15th May, a very long journey to Edenbridge. All the team had to give shots, and poor Sally had to give 6. A demanding 9-hole course with slippery greens. Sadly, local knowledge prevailed and we lost 2-3. Very well played ladies.
Monday 1st June Away Ifield Won 3-2
Martlets Blue team travelled to Ifield just after the last heatwave and the better conditions were favourable. After a tough day we came out on top with a win of 3-2. Congratulations to the team.
Thursday 11th June Away Dale Hill Lost 2-3
Martlets Blue embarked on a two-hour journey to Dale Hill, just inside the East Sussex border on Thursday 11th June. The weather forecast did not change, and the team played in very heavy rain and winds. Although some greens were flooded it was agreed that to try and re-schedule the match would be difficult so near the cut-off date. So on they struggled. Local knowledge prevailed and Chichester lost 2-3. Two matches went to the 18th for halves. Well done team in such difficult conditions.
Thursday 18th June Away Worthing Won 3-2
Thursday saw the Martlets Blue team travel to Worthing for their final group game. The day started with sunshine, but it was forecast for rain (not again).
Chichester had to give shots on four of the matches, but determination saw them come out as winners 3 games to 2, with two matches going to the 18th. Well don this team and to the whole squad.
With this win we came second to Dale Hill in the group which is a great result.
